Want Better Proposal Photos? Stay Down.

Guys, stay on the damn knee.

Yes, he did it right, bless him.

Seriously. Give me ten seconds.

Sure, you can make a speech before you propose — assuming you remember any of it once your heart starts pounding and your brain goes blank.

But when you get down on one knee, ask the question and wait.

Let her react.

Let her gasp. Let her cry. Let her cover her face with her hands. Let her stare at you while her brain catches up with what just happened.

Then put the ring on her finger.

And then you can stand up.

Why?

Because while all this is happening, your photographer is trying to tell the story.

I want the wide shot with the scenery. I want the medium shot with both of you. And I want the close-up with the expression, the ring, and all that emotion.

If you drop to one knee, blurt out the question, and spring back up three seconds later, I cannot magically create photographs of a moment that lasted three seconds.

So slow down.

Give her time to react. Give yourself time to enjoy it.

And give your photographer a fighting chance.

Help me out, bruh.

Those pictures are from a proposal at Andrews Bald - it’s a 3.6 roundtrip hike from Kuwohi but hey, if you want something different, ya gotta put in some effort. Want to talk about your proposal?
